Greens, blues and teals are some of my favorite colors. This piece references microbiology.
Diving deep into microscopic worlds
Ever since I was little, I have been fascinated by microscopic creatures. I think it started when I looked at some pond scum through a microscope in elementary school: there was an entire universe of life in that drop of dingy water!
Since then, I have drawn, painted and printed ovoid shapes. They are a recurring theme in my artwork. There’s something comforting about round things… no hard edges to poke you.

This triptych “Renketsu (Connection)” explores those unseen microscopic worlds. I combined monotype printing, collage, stitching, and a bit of direct drawing in these pieces. They are collaged onto stretched canvas. Each canvas is 12″ x 12″ x 1.5″, and they are being enjoyed by one of my art patrons.

“Somewhere, something incredible is waiting to be known.”
