It is always fun to work on a custom piece of artwork, and this project was particularly fun: it combined my love of science with creating art.
Inspired by medical textbooks
My client was looking for an artist who could do something special with his medical textbooks. Since medical school, he had been moving them from place to place and never enjoyed them. But couldn’t seem to let them go. He had the idea to turn them into art, which I think was brilliant.
I was given free reign to do whatever I wanted. I could chop up the books and repurpose them, incorporating them into the artwork. Or, I could just take inspiration from them. What I ended up doing is taking some imagery from the books — scientific, yet abstract shapes — and worked them into 4 pieces. I pulled some colors from my client’s home to work into the artwork. The result is a custom set of 4 panels that my client loved!
