This project was a commission from friends of mine who live on Queen Anne, one of Seattle’s oldest neighborhoods.

Water themed artwork
Friends of mine had recently purchased a high-end, modern condo in one of Seattle’s oldest and nicest neighborhoods. The condo was super sleek and modern, and they wanted something more high touch than high tech. I had created a piece for them a few years before that incorporated shades of blue with some bamboo canes that I harvested from my own garden. They loved this piece with it’s natural materials, and wanted something new to go with it.
I knew I wanted to work on a water theme. I printed a series of monotype prints in watery tones, and for contrast did some in a deep, chocolatey brown. I combined the prints into airy compositions with stitched elements, collaging them onto 3 large stretched canvas panels. When I arrived to hang their new custom artwork, my friends were ecstatic with the results.
“Life is a series of natural and spontaneous changes. Don’t resist them; that only creates sorrow. Let reality be reality. Let things flow naturally forward in whatever way they like.”
