LECTURE: Minimal Design, Maximum Impact
February 20, 2022 @ 9:00 am - 10:00 am MST

QUILTCON 2022 LECTURE: The modern quilting movement is evolving and changing, but one thing remains consistent: simple, spare design combined with thoughtful quilting make an outstanding combination.
This talk ties directly into my Modern Abstract Quilts and Inspired by Architecture workshops, giving an overview of my process for coming up with simple graphic quilt designs, starting with stitched paper models (called maquettes). I show examples of how to translate an architectural photo into a quilt design, and have many samples of mini quilts I created using this process. The techniques I present are also great for making unique modern quilt block designs. I also talk about walking foot quilting and how to break free from stitch in the ditch.
IN-PERSON EVENT: This lecture is a a-hour live, in-person lecture at QuiltCon 2022 in Phoenix, AZ.
Registration opens to Modern Quilt Guild members on August 4, 2021 at 10:00 am Eastern Time, and on August 19, 2021 for non-members.
