FREE LECTURE: The quilts in Inspired Settings: The Art and Collection of Matt Macomber are a mix of vintage and antique pieces with new works inspired by bold and graphic compositions of quilts of the past. This exhibit of 27 quilts, currently on display through July 4, 2021, is at the Pacific Northwest Quilt & Fiber Arts Museum in La Conner, WA.
Matt’s collection of vintage and antique quilts includes examples of unusual settings of blocks, exciting use of print and color, and other out-of-the-ordinary elements combined to create dynamic quilts. His new quilted works draw inspiration from elements of vintage and antique quilts, often incorporating found blocks or vintage fabrics.
Join Matt on Weds., May 26, 2021 via Zoom with David Owen Hastings as moderator. We will discuss 5 select quilts from the exhibit, all of which Matt resurrected by setting the blocks and completing the quilts. Some of these quilts were started over 100 years ago. Learn about the history of the fabrics, colors, and designs of these gorgeous heirloom pieces.
Registration for this event is now at capacity, but bookmark this page to view a recording on YouTube after May 26, 2021. The recording will be available through July 4, 2021.
