IN-PERSON RETREAT: UFO Flying Disks Quilt
EMPTY SPOOLS SEMINARS: This is a rare opportunity to take my new UFO Flying Disks Quilt workshop in a multi-day retreat format! You will finish a modern abstract wall quilt in the time we have together.
Give new life to an unfinished quilt or workshop sample by transforming it into a dimensional wall piece! In this fun, adventurous workshop, we’ll cut, quilt, and reshape your UFO into playful disks. First, we will stitch layers of machine quilting using a walking foot or free-motion foot, explore two simple finishing methods, then add optional Sashiko-inspired hand stitching for extra texture. Finally, we’ll arrange your disks into an overlapping composition to create a unique 3D wall quilt. Come ready to experiment—remember, it’s only fabric, you can always get more!
This workshop is a five-day in-person event. We will have the luxury of nearly a week of workshop time to design and develop a beautiful modern wall quilt in a gorgeous setting.
Empty Spools Seminars is hosting this retreat at the scenic Asilomar Conference Grounds in Pacific Grove, CA.
The dates for the workshop are March 5 – 10, 2027. Registration is now open! Visit the Empty Spools Seminars website:
