IN-PERSON RETREAT: Inspired by Architecture

EMPTY SPOOLS SEMINARS: This is a rare opportunity to take my very popular Inspired by Architecture workshop in a multi-day retreat format! You will finish a small quilt in the time we have together.
Working from photos of architectural elements, I will guide you through the steps to design a minimal, modern fabric quilt… inspired by architecture! You will learn the quilt-as-you-go method, sewing the top pieces, batting and backing simultaneously. You’ll then add texture and complexity with my unique approach to walking foot machine quilting where the quilting lines become a major design element. Learn to connect multiple quilted units with a great gusset join technique, then add a simple face binding for a modern finish.
This workshop is a five-day in-person event. We will have the luxury of nearly a week of workshop time to design and develop a beautiful modern quilt in a gorgeous setting.
Empty Spools Seminars is hosting this retreat at the scenic Asilomar Conference Grounds in Pacific Grove, CA.
