This is a rare opportunity to take my very popular Inspired by Architecture workshop in a multi-day retreat format! You will finish a small quilt in the time we have together.
Working from photos of architectural elements, I will guide you through the steps to design a minimal, modern fabric quilt… inspired by architecture! You will learn the quilt-as-you-go method, sewing the top pieces, batting and backing simultaneously. You’ll then add texture and complexity with my unique approach to layered walking foot machine quilting where the quilting lines become a major design element. Learn to connect multiple quilted units with a great gusset join technique, then add a simple face binding for a modern finish.
This workshop is a five-day in-person event. We will have the luxury of nearly a week of workshop time to design and develop a beautiful modern quilt in a gorgeous setting.
New England Quilt Seminars – NEQS is hosting this retreat at The Valley Inn in charming Waterville Valley, New Hampshire. Enjoy a small class size, comfortable work stations and individual attention for each student. Registration fees include this week-long workshop, buffet-style meals starting with dinner Sunday through lunch Friday, and spacious accommodations at The Valley Inn.
We will also have a special one-day unit on Composing Modern Quilts from Architecture — a great way to build on your composition skills!
