The EDGE Program for Artists

Artist Trust EDGE ProgramIn 2006, I participated in the EDGE Professional Development Program for artists. This is where I finally learned to stand up an say, “I am an Artist.”

EDGE is a program of ArtistTrust. It teaches artists all kinds of great skills like how to find resources and information on how to take their career to the next level, and how and where to apply for grants. It’s a time to step up the game and create a business plan, and get a comprehensive understanding of tax and licensing issues for artists. EDGE has taught over 520 artists how to move their career forward. The 2013 application for the EDGE Professional Development Program for Visual Artists is out now.

The EDGE Program is seven full days of fundamental art business information. In addition to becoming part of a cohort of professional visual artists in the region, the program provides hands-on experience developing a professional visual art career. Participants hear a diverse array of visual and legal professionals discuss current trends and insight on how to rise above the challenges and meet career goals.

I got so much out of the program that I now volunteer to speak as a guest lecturer on the topic of Branding for Artists. I like to give back and share the information I have with other artists. When we help each other, we help ourselves to grow.

I encourage all artists to apply, and for those who know them to forward these links to the application for the two cycles in Seattle or Port TownsendThe application deadline is March 25, 2013.  For additional information, contact Lana Blinderman, Program Assistant, at Artist Trust.  206-467-8734
