On Thursday, September 21st, 2017, eight Washington State artists will come together at BallardWorks for modern touch: artwork with a decidedly modern twist.
Each artist in this show creates work that is modernist in feeling, but is also created using unconventional and decidedly modern techniques… or traditional techniques used in new ways. The opening is Thursday, Sept. 21st, 2017, from 6:00 – 9:00 pm. BallardWorks is located at 2856 NW Market St, Seattle WA 98107. Access to the building beyond the opening may be arranged by appointment, through Oct. 10, 2017.
Here is a preview of the artists featured in modern touch:
Michelle Crowe is a ceramic artist based in Bellingham, WA. Her functional pieces are made for the home, and play with the relationships between form and building layers of line. Her shapes and patterns are reminiscent of 1950’s and 1960’s … Read More »

I’m happy to introduce a new body of work in the Barrel Room Gallery of Domanico Cellars. The show runs through July 15th, 2017. Domanico Cellars has a tasting room for their fine wines, located between Ballard and Fremont in Seattle, and nestled inside the tasting room is a wonderful gallery. Wine tastings, glass pours, and bottles of Domanico Cellars’ wine are available for purchase. There are often food trucks in the neighborhood. Visit the Domanico Cellars website for more information, hours and directions.
My new monotype prints and collages blend organic shapes, rich textures and of course, stitching. I have been exploring the concept of “paper quilts” more, and you will see that reflected in my work. People tell me the love the peaceful feeling that comes from my artwork, and don’t … Read More »
Revitalize Your Brand
On June 17, 2016, I participated in a branding presentation at the Forum on Strategic Fundraising. My co-presenters were Teresa Moore of Moore Ink. PR and Fundraising Communications, and Andrea Solomon of Washington Access for Better Schools (WABS).
The Forum on Strategic Fundraising is presented annually by AFP Advancement Northwest, our regional chapter (and one of the largest in the world) of the Association of Fundraising Professionals. AFP Advancement Northwest transforms the relationship between donors and fundraisers, building a more vital culture of philanthropy and stronger communities. They believe the fundraising profession must rise to meet the highest standards of innovation and find creative solutions to help philanthropists make an even bigger impact in advancing the ever-growing needs that nonprofit organizations serve.
In our presentation, Revitalize Your Brand, we talked what a brand really is, how to convey your brand in effective messages, … Read More »
I’m happy to announce that my artwork, Nazo (Enigma), has been chosen for inclusion in the 2014 Collective Visions Gallery (CVG) Show in Bremerton.

Over the past year, I’ve been working on a new body of work called the Urban Skin series.
To celebrate SAM Gallery’s 40th Anniversary, the gallery will show the work of five of their regular artists along with five artists the regulars have invited to show. The artist pairs are:
Linda Davidson/Fiona McGuigan
Melinda Hannigan/Gail Howard
Curt Labitzke/Kim Van Someren
Junko Yamamoto/Rumi Koshino
In connection with this show, Celeste Cooning will present Seattle Tower 1928, a site specific installation in the gallery’s University Street window that references the architecture and embellishments of Seattle Tower, the art deco high-rise where SAM Gallery is located.
Seattle Magazine writer Brangien Davis has written a terrific article about SAM Gallery and their 40 years of making art accessible to all.
